Looking for something to read this winter? Here are a few of my recent favorites— let’s dive in!

In The Splendid and the Vile, Erik Larson takes readers inside Winston Churchill’s turbulent first year as Prime Minister during World War II. On his first day, Hitler invaded Holland and Belgium, Poland and Czechoslovakia had already fallen, and Dunkirk was just weeks away. Over the next year, Churchill taught the British people “the art of being fearless,” as he led them through the relentless bombings that claimed over 45,000 lives, all while earning the trust of President Franklin Roosevelt.
Larson provides an intimate look at Churchill’s relationships with his wife, Clementine, his children, and his trusted “Secret Circle,” offering a new perspective on Britain’s darkest year. It’s a powerful story of leadership and resilience – a must-read for history enthusiasts!

I’m a big fan of Matt Haig and loved his New York Times bestseller, The Midnight Library, so I was excited to dive into another one of his books. It’s safe to say that The Life Impossible did not disappoint! The story follows retired math teacher, Grace Winters, who unexpectedly inherits a house in Ibiza from a long-lost friend. With a one-way ticket and no plan, Grace sets out to uncover the mystery surrounding her friend’s life and death. What she discovers is stranger than she ever imagined, and it forces her to come to terms with her own past. This is a beautifully written story about hope, self-discovery, and the transformative power of new beginnings. I highly recommend it!

Drawing on over 30 years of experience as a teacher, consultant, and advisor, Peter Drucker’s Management: Tasks, Responsibilities, Practices offers a comprehensive guide to the field of management. The book explores timeless tools and techniques, equipping readers with the knowledge, strategic thinking, and skills essential for long-term, effective management. I found this book incredibly insightful – it is a must-read classic for those looking to become a better manager and leader.
